Pastor Strey earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Martin Lutheran College (New Ulm, MN) in May 1997. His studies for the pastoral ministry continued at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (Mequon, WI). He graduated from the Seminary in May 2001 with a Master of Divinity degree. Upon graduation from the seminary, he was assigned to serve as the pastor of Gloria Dei Evangelical Lutheran Church in Belmont, California, where he was ordained and installed on July 15, 2001. He is nearing completion of his studies for a second Master's degree in pastoral liturgy and liturgical music at Santa Clara University.
In addition to his other pastoral responsibilities at Gloria Dei, Pastor Strey teaches Catechism classes (Christian doctrine/teaching) to students in grades 5-8 at Gloria Dei Lutheran School. He serves the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) as chairman of the Northern California Delegate Conference, as the Arizona-California District's Worship Coordinator, as a presenter for the WELS School of Worship Enrichment, and as one of the planners for the triennial WELS National Conference on Worship, Music, and the Arts.
